Introscopes, sale and repair service

As sole British supplier of Introscopes, the sales and services of this equipment ensures the industry is using effective, accurate and reliable equipment in establishing the payment criteria for the majority of pigs slaughtered. The Introscope (optical probe) is an effective and efficient way of assessing the back fat depth of pork carcases.

Introscope MLCSL CSO using Introscope replacement bulbs

It is accurate if the correct technique is used and the probe is inserted in the correct position, this being at the head of the first rib, 6.5 cm from the mid line of the back. It can measure the fat depth within the range of 3mm to 45mm and with the help of a weight and probe matrix, the estimated lean meat percentage can be calculated. It is used by inserting the point of the Introscope at right angles to the skin at the appropriate position (see above middle picture) sufficient pressure is used to maintain contact with the carcase. The lamp switch is held in and barrel is rotated while also looking into the viewer on top of the Introscope. When the black line in the viewer coincides with the division between the fat and the lean the mm figure on the barrel is read, giving the depth of fat. The Introscope can be easily dismantled for cleaning.

The dimensions of the Introscope are: length 205mm, height 175mm and weight 650 grams. It is delivered with a storage box, back marker, strap and steel calibration ruler.

We also provide replacement accessories such as bulbs, straps and backmarkers. Maintenance and repairs on the introscopes using genuine manufacturer’s parts are also carried out.
